Have you ever thought about teleporting yourself around the world? How about travelling to space? Wouldn’t it be cool to visit your friends in other countries within a couple of hours? You are at luck! With today’s technological advances, this is where we’re headed…
We are living in a time of great technological advances, and if you love to travel this is very exciting news for you. Both large companies such as SpaceX, Google, and Marriott but also small startups such as Felix and Paul Studios and Caribbean VR are leading the way forward through introducing new concepts like the ones below.
Here are the technologies that will greatly impact the future of your travels.
1. Artificial Intelligence
One of the most well-known concepts of this topic is the self-driving car. Tesla is in the forefront with this technology that is already available to consumers. All you have to do is to get in your car and tell it where you want to go. If you don’t tell it anything it will actually check your calendar and take you to your meeting spot by calculating the optimal travel route. How cool is that?!
Another way in which AI will greatly improve your travels is through the algorithms that can process huge amounts of data to make your experience as a user a lot more personalized. An example is through virtual travel assistants.
2. Solar Flights
Aircrafts are currently very fuel heavy and large contributors to environmental pollution. Solar Impulse is a company focused on solving this problem. It is lead by two Swiss engineers, one of them being Bertrand Piccard who had the vision of demonstrating the importance of clean technology for sustainable development back in 2004. In 2016 they completed their first journey around the world (40.000 km) without fuel. This is a groundbreaking event in the fight against environmental destruction!
3. Virtual Reality
VR will allow you to visit the world from your living room. Although the technology is already used by companies such as Marriott and Google, the quality of the mobile headsets is far from optimal as of today. As the quality improves, this experience will completely change the travel industry. Some even argue that people will never leave the couch to actually travel.
We at Curiooso believe that it will be a fantastic way to get a feel for what a destination really will be like rather than reading fake reviews and looking at photoshopped images. It will provide you with so much more than the internet does today, you will be fully immersed in the destination.
4. Hyperloop One
This is one of our favorites! It’s “a new way to move people and things at airline speeds for the price of a bus ticket.” It’s a system of tubes on the ground that allows you to travel through it in pods at very high speeds. By very high speeds we mean that you could travel from Melbourne to Sydney in 55 min. This journey currently takes at least 3 hours with existing transportation methods. Hyperloop would allow you to live in one country and go to work in another every morning. Their goal is to move passengers by 2021.
5. Space Travel
You have probably heard of Virgin Galactic by now. They are working on making SpaceshipTwo and LauncherOne available to the public. LauncherOne is a launching system for smaller satellites while SpaceshipTwo is a reusable spacecraft that can carry eight people to space. This is the largest amount in history aside from one other space mission. 700 people from over 50 countries have already signed up and paid their deposit to travel in it.
Which one of these do you think will have the greatest impact on the travel industry? Which one are you more likely to use yourself? Follow us at Curiooso to stay on top of VR travelling.
